Stakeholder Panel on Strategic Foods Analytical Methods (SPSFAM)

Veterinary drug residues working group is planned to be launched at the September meeting of SPFAM.
We hope to continue the discussion at the Community Subgroup meetings for Veterinary Drugs and for Emerging Contaminants.

AOAC Stakeholder Process:

  • The working group will meet by conference calls to develop Standard Method Performance Requirements (SMPRs)
  • Once SMPRs are accepted by the SPFAM, there will be Call for Methods and Call for Experts to participate on the Expert Review Panel (ERP)
  • The ERP reviews methods and can approve methods for 1st Action Official Method status
  • Please realize that this is not usually a method development process.  The EPR will review available methods with at least Single Laboratory Validation (SLV) for approval as 1st Action.
  • If you have methods that you would like to be considered, this is the time to get the validations done. Publications and inter-laboratory studies are also good documentation of performance.

Cannabis working group has been very active
SMPRs for cannabinoids in dry plant materials and concentrates have been approved.
SMPRs in food materials and pesticides in cannabis are being developed.
